Pathways School Noida and Pathways World School, Aravali, honored with prestigious ‘Climate Action Project School of Excellence’ Award

New Delhi: Pathways School Noida and Pathways World School, Aravali, has been conferred with a highly prestigious Climate Action Project School of Excellence award by the Cartoon Network Climate Champions and Climate Action Project, for their intensive work on climate education in a whole-school approach. Including Pathways, only 250 schools across the globe were recognized for their work over the past year, meeting extensive criteria, including a school-wide commitment to climate education and student solutions.

Cartoon Network Climate Champions is a climate change awareness initiative that sets out to inspire kids to take on daily challenges that collectively can make a big difference to the health of our planet. It has been developed in collaboration with WWF, a world-renowned environmental organization.

Climate Action Project is a free, global education project that was launched by Take Action Global (TAG), an education nonprofit based in the USA, involving 2,700,000 teachers and students across 146 countries. The project aims to help students learn about the climate crisis in authentic ways and disseminate solutions online.

Pathways School students participated in the Climate Action Project and their mission was to create awareness and spread their message on climate change globally. Every year Pathways school students are enthusiastically engrossed in a myriad of learning engagements like Plantation Drive through an annual tree planting initiative under the Climate Action Project led by the organization TAG (Take Action Global). Engaging in brainstorming sessions around climate-related global and local issues and finding potential solutions to combat climate change. Also, taking a pledge to take meaningful action as a community, following sustainable practices, spreading awareness about their own learning, and participating in global collaborations and conferences are some of the many activities that the students of Pathways perform on a regular basis.

While speaking about the recognition, Dr. Shalini Advani, Director, Pathways School Noida, said, “When it comes to the environment, Pathways has always been at the forefront of fulfilling its duties as a responsible organization. Pathways firmly believe in sustainable habitat and try to do its bit towards securing the environment for the future. As an educational institution, we feel it is our responsibility to sensitize these young minds towards nature and its importance. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude towards Cartoon Network Climate Champions and Climate Action Project for recognizing our intensive work on climate education”.

Further talking on the occasion, Ms. Sonya Ghandy Mehta, Director, Pathways World School, Aravali, added, “Situated in the footsteps of Aravali Hills, Pathways World School is the only school chain across the globe with LEED EB Platinum certification. We not only focus on reducing the carbon footprint on our campus, but we also make sure to instill a sense of responsibility towards the environment in our students through our curriculum and extra-curricular activities. This is the second year PWS has taken part in the climate action project as we believe that in our small way we are working towards a better world. We are grateful that our work is being recognized.”

The winners were announced on Climate Action Day during an annual online live event attended by 250,000 people globally including eminent personalities like HRM Prince William, President James Alix Michel, Seychelles, Rick Davis, NASA, Matt Larsen-Daw, WWF, HRM Princess Esmeralda, Belgium, Juan Pablo Celis Garcia, UN Environment Programme, and other world leaders, climate scientists, and activists.
