Witty International School’s Pranit Dharewa Expands ‘Padhao India’ to Support Over 2,000 Underprivileged Learners Across IndiaMumbai, 20 Nov: Witty International School is proud to support ‘Padhao India’, a remarkable national-level social initiative that has already transformed the learning journeys of more than 2000 underprivileged children across India. The initiative was founded by 10-year-old Grade 6 student, Pranit Dharewa, recognised as one of India’s youngest changemakers. Through this unique model, senior students volunteer as mentors for younger learners, providing online academic support while building a culture of empathy, leadership, and social responsibility.

‘Padhao India’ began during the COVID-19 lockdown, when Pranit, then only six years old, started helping a few children who lacked access to structured learning. What started as a small personal effort steadily evolved into a robust, peer-to-peer learning programme offering academic support in English, Mathematics, Science, General Knowledge, and Value Education. Today, each student volunteer teaches five learners, completing an annual 50-hour curriculum supported by milestone-based recognition—including appreciation badges, goodies, and certificates that keep learners motivated and engaged. The initiative also supports the nation’s efforts to reduce school dropout rates by ensuring learning continuity through accessible online mentorship.

Sharing his inspiration behind the initiative, Pranit Dharewa said, “When schools closed during the pandemic, I realised that many children did not have access to quality learning. I wanted to change that in whatever small way I could. ‘Padhao India’ began with just a few students but has now grown into a community of learners and mentors working together to make education accessible to all.”

Over the years, Pranit and “Padhao India” have received significant recognition, including the International Education Award 2023 by GESS UAE, the National Education Award 2022, and a felicitation by the Governor of Maharashtra. Pranit has also been invited for motivational talks at educational forums and corporate events, inspiring audiences with his journey, leadership, and belief in youth-driven social reform.

“At Witty International School, we believe in nurturing not just academic excellence but also empathy, leadership, and a sense of social responsibility,” said Ms Sonia Rana, Principal, Witty International School. “Supporting ‘Padhao India’ allows our students to engage in meaningful volunteer work, mentor younger children, and experience the joy of creating real-world impact. Pranit’s efforts are a reflection of the values we strive to instil in every student”, she added.

With guidance from an advisory board comprising industry and education leaders, ‘Padhao India’ is set to expand further, aiming to mentor 2,500 children with 500 student volunteers by March 2026. Witty International School takes pride in nurturing students who are not only academically accomplished but also socially conscious. The school’s consistent emphasis on values, innovation, and holistic learning helps its students develop the confidence and compassion to make a positive difference in the world.
