Speaking on the occasion, Dr Satyanarayana Nuthula, President of SOPPA said, an anesthesiologist is considered a fully competent physician. He or She is a fully qualified medical doctor with extensive training in the field of anaesthesia. This allows them to manage a patient’s medical condition during surgery by administering anaesthetic agents and monitoring vital signs; essentially, they are doctors specializing in pain management during procedures.
This practice is in vogue in many countries and why not this be adopted, he asked.
An anesthesiologist is a perioperative physician who manages a patient’s care before, during, and after surgery. They are responsible for the patient’s overall medical management throughout the perioperative period, he said.
He along with office bearers Dr Dr Raja Narsing Rao, Secretary, Dr Kalyani, Treasurer in the presence of advisors Dr M Chandrashekar, Dr R. Gopinath, Dr P. Surendra and Dr Manimala Rao appealed to The Medical Council of India (MCI), a statutory body that established and maintained medical education standards in India, to consider Perioperative Anaesthesiologist an equally competent physician.
We hold a Medical Degree equally as any physician and Doctor of Medicine (MD) and undergo Extensive Training. And we are equally responsible for patient care., he added. The society is just registered and we are formulating guidelines that added Dr Rajanarsing Rao
