Hyderabad, November 7, 2025: Apollo Cancer Centres, Hyderabad, organised a unique awareness event titled “Check O Late!” to highlight the importance of screening and early detection in cancer care. The initiative used the symbolic concept of dark chocolate to convey the message that while the word “cancer” may sound dark or bitter, awareness and early diagnosis can transform outcomes positively.
The programme commenced with an introduction by Dr. K. Shilpa Reddy, Consultant Radiation Oncologist, followed by a welcome address by Dr. P. Vijay Anand Reddy, Director, Apollo Cancer Centres.
The event was graced by eminent dignitaries:
- Chief Guest: Ms. Shikha Goel, IPS, Director General, Vigilance & Enforcement Department
- Guest of Honour: Dr. Vanitha Datla, Vice Chairperson & Managing Director, Elico Healthcare Services Ltd., and Former Chairperson, CII Telangana
Distinguished doctors from Apollo Cancer Centres, including Dr. Sai Lakshmi Daayana (Senior Consultant – Gynaec Oncology), Dr. Rekha Bansal (Consultant – Medical Oncology), and Dr. Rashmi Sudhir (Consultant – Breast Radiology), also shared their insights and perspectives during the event.
The session featured patient experiences, underscoring the crucial role of regular screening and timely intervention in successful cancer treatment.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the “Check O Late” Box by the Chief Guest, Ms. Shikha Goel. The moment was followed by scanning a QR code on the event badge, which led to an awareness video. Dr. Shilpa Reddy elaborated on the significance of using dark chocolate as a metaphor for the cause.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. Vanitha Datla, presented the symbolic boxes to the doctors on stage and shared her experiences about known people on early detection. A group photograph was taken to commemorate the occasion.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Nikhil Ghadyalpatil, Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist, who reiterated Apollo’s commitment to preventive oncology and patient-centric initiatives.
