EXCLUSIVE | Narayana Health’s Clinical AI press conference video byte

(0:03) Thank you Dr. Uthappa for your insights, before proceeding further we will request Dr. Devi (0:10) Shetty to share a few words with us, let us welcome him with a grand applause.

(0:21) Thank you, first I want to congratulate our team for doing this fantastic work, I just (0:32) want all of you to know that about 8 or 9 years ago, Vivek was talking about AI when

(0:40) chat GPT didn’t exist and nobody knew what AI was, so congratulations Vivek for looking

(0:47) at the future well ahead of us. Briefly I just want to explain to you how the future

(0:57) of healthcare will be impacted by AI and all this digital platform we are developing.
(1:04) First of all, we have been spending millions and millions of dollars for the last 22-23

(1:10) years on developing all these platforms, it didn’t happen yesterday, it is a very very

(1:16) long term investment we have made. I will give a glimpse of how it will be, a patient

(1:22) books an appointment in the next 6 months, how it will be, patient books an appointment

(1:27) to see Dr. Devi Shetty, the moment he books the appointment he will get a WhatsApp message (1:32) with a bot and the bot will take the entire history of the patient in any language, because

(1:38) bot can spend any length of time. Then based on the test, as soon as the history is taken,

(1:47) the bot will request the patient to upload all the images of all the old reports.
Then

(1:54) bot will go through it and it will suggest to the patient that before seeing Dr. Shetty,

(2:00) you come to the hospital, get all these tests done, like a blood test, ECG, echo, whatever.

(2:06) So once that is done, patient comes to the hospital, he doesn’t see the receptionist,

(2:12) registration, payment, everything happens, they just get the appointment too for the

(2:17) echocardiogram at particular time or a blood test or whatever time, get the test done and

(2:24) when they come to see me in my laptop, I will be able to see the entire history and all the

(2:33) diagnostic tests what have been done, the reports and the old reports and also I will

(2:39) get to see three or four possible diagnosis, differential diagnosis from which I can choose

(2:46) from. And when the patient sits in front of me, I am not going to ask the patient what

(2:52) is your problem is. I am going to explain to the patient what his problem is, just to

(2:58) confirm that what the bot gave me the history is accurate. That will dramatically change

(3:04) the patient perception about me and the service. First thing the patient will say is that this

(3:11) doctor knows everything about me because bot would have taken the entire history starting

(3:16) from childhood to his allergy to family history and everything. That will change the

(3:22) patient experience. And the other important thing, normally we see the patient and we write (3:28) a list of tests. Patient goes out, get the test done. After four hours, they will come

(3:34) back with the report. That means our doctors are seeing the patient twice. So once with

(3:41) these technologies are used, I need to see the patient only once and advise. So technically

(3:47) speaking, I can see double the number of patients in the OPD at the same time. This is just

(3:53) the impact in the OPD itself. Like this, when the patient gets admitted to the hospital,

(3:59) the experience will be dramatically different. All these innovations, all along we have waited (4:06) for the Western countries to develop these technologies. Today we are developing this

(4:11) because this country is blessed with phenomenally skilled, passionate software engineers, AI

(4:18) experts. This is our strength. And we have, by the grace of God, made a massive investment

(4:24) in building the digital platform, which is far, far ahead of all the other hospitals

(4:30) and the existing EM apps. So with the great combination of a digital platform with the

(4:36) AI tool, healthcare will never be the same. Thank you so much. Good luck and God bless

(4:42) the world.
