The initiative brought together women from across Hubballi for a symbolic walk that blended tradition with a strong message of self-care. Participants took part in the walk wearing sarees, sports shoes, and sunglasses, symbolising tradition, strength, and confidence, while reinforcing the importance of women taking proactive steps towards their health.

The walk commenced from HCG Cancer Centre and proceeded along Shirur Park Road, before concluding at HCG Suchirayu Hospital. The initiative witnessed participation from around 80 women, including community members, professionals, and healthcare advocates who joined the walk in support of women’s health awareness.

Following the walk, participants were provided access to complimentary health screenings and awareness activities, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and BMI checks. Dedicated women’s health awareness desks were also set up, where participants interacted with healthcare professionals and received guidance on preventive health and routine screenings. Special preventive health packages were also introduced to encourage women to undergo regular health assessments.

The initiative aimed to encourage conversations around preventive healthcare, particularly in growing cities where women often tend to prioritise family responsibilities over their own health.

Dr. Veda Hallad (Assistant CTVS Surgeon) HCG Suchirayu Hospital, Hubballi) said,

“Women often place the health of their families before their own, which can lead to delays in routine check-ups and screenings. Through initiatives like the Saree Swag Run, we aimed to encourage women to take time for their own well-being and understand the importance of preventive health. Regular screenings and timely consultations can play an important role in identifying potential health concerns early and ensuring appropriate care.”

Dr. Seeta Mutalik (Consultant Nephrologist) HCG Suchirayu Hospital, Hubballi), said,

“Community-led initiatives like the Saree Swag Run help create a supportive environment where women feel encouraged to talk openly about their health. By bringing people together through activities like this, we hope to build greater awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups and preventive care, enabling women to take more informed steps towards their long-term well-being.”

Through initiatives like the Saree Swag Run 2026, HCG continues to strengthen community engagement and promote awareness around preventive healthcare among women.
