Mobile Medical Clinic Launched to Boost Primary Healthcare in Jambusar & Ankleshwar

In a significant stride towards strengthening rural healthcare accessibility, a new state-of-the-art Mobile Medical Clinic, operating as a “Clinic on Wheels,” has been launched to deliver essential medical services directly to the doorsteps of over 20,000 residents annually. This dedicated initiative will target 25–30 villages across the Jambusar and Ankleshwar, with the core mission of providing accessible, high-quality primary healthcare to underprivileged communities.

Commenting on the recent launch, Guillaume Dourdin, CEO, Veolia, India said,

“At Veolia in India, our commitment extends beyond our industrial operations to the health, safety, and well-being of the communities we serve. By partnering with the Wockhardt Foundation, we are bringing essential healthcare directly to the doorsteps of those who need it the most. This is a decisive step towards improving quality of life, and it embodies our profound commitment to fostering healthier, more resilient communities.”

Each mobile unit will be staffed by a dedicated and professional medical team comprising an MBBS doctor, a nurse, and a pharmacist. This team will offer basic primary healthcare services including free diagnosis and treatment for both acute and chronic medical conditions, vital preventive care, and the provision of free essential medicines. Furthermore, a robust referral mechanism will be seamlessly integrated to ensure that complicated cases receive advanced medical intervention at the District Hospital, thereby guaranteeing continuity and comprehensive care for all patients.

The partnership is a collaborative effort between Veolia Foundation, which is providing grant funding for the custom-built medical vehicle and equipment, Wockhardt Foundation will manage all clinic operations, the medical team, and reporting, with Veolia in India covering operational costs while leading community engagement.

“By partnering with the Wockhardt Foundation, an NGO with deep roots in India, we have been able to build, with the Veolia India teams, a highly impactful and relevant response. At the Veolia Foundation, we are convinced that sustainable change is possible when global support meets local expertise”, said David Poinard, Executive Officer of the Veolia Foundation.

This model has the potential for future replication in other industrial clusters, reflecting Veolia Foundation’s long-term commitment to creating sustainable community solutions. Since 2004, the Foundation has supported more than 1500 non-profit projects contributing to sustainable development, focusing on priority areas, like humanitarian aid, environmental conservation, and social inclusion.
