Impressive Tabla recital by young Satpinder Singh Saffie in 11th Webaithak of Pracheen Kala Kendra

11th edition broadcasted live today featured a solo recital by Satpiner Singh, an extremely talented young Tabla player of Punjab Gharana. He learnt tabla from famous Tabla Exponent of Patiala Prof. Jagmohan Sharma. Today’s programme was dedicated to Legendary Pt. Jasraj ji .

Satpinder Singh Saffie, a young talented artist from Patiala. He learnt Gurmat Sangeet and Tabla from his Guru noted artist of Punjab Gharana Prof. Jagmohan Sharma. He is the winner of many accolades. Presently he is working as Assistant Professor in Khalsa College Patiala.

Beginning with traditional starting point Peshkar, Satpinder gradually unfolded crisp kaidas with rhythmic variations almost all the different idioms of Tabla playing within the frame of the 16-beat cycle of the taal. Young percussionist displayed famous Punjab Gharana kaidas relas etc with superb clarity. He also presented some compositions of his Guru in Khand, misher and tiser jaati . He concluded his recital with traditional and famous bandishes of his Gharana. He was ably accompanied by Tejinder singh on harmonium.
