Mumbai, July 25, 2025 – On the occasion of World IVF Day, Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited (BSV), a Mankind Group Company and a leader in women’s health and assisted reproduction treatments, reaffirms its commitment towards advancing awareness, education, and scientific innovation in fertility care. With infertility affecting over 186 million individuals globally1, and a rising trend in both primary and secondary infertility within India, the need for informed, stigma-free conversations around reproductive health is more important than ever.
Despite the availability of advanced fertility treatments, several misconceptions continue to hinder timely diagnosis and care. Myths such as “infertility is only a woman’s issue” or “men can father children at any age” not only misguide couples but also contribute to emotional stress. In reality, male factors contribute to nearly 50% of all infertility cases, and sperm quality tends to decline with age, particularly after 40. Similarly, the belief that egg freezing diminishes future fertility is inaccurate. Egg retrieval for freezing uses only eggs that would naturally be lost in a cycle, thus preserving fertility without depleting reserves.
There also remains widespread confusion between egg and embryo freezing. While both procedures share similarities, embryo freezing involves fertilization and may raise legal and emotional considerations. Egg freezing, on the other hand, provides women autonomy to preserve their reproductive choices for the future. Other commonly held myths — such as the assumption that tight clothing or frequent ejaculation impacts male fertility, or that adoption or stress relief can directly improve chances of conception — have no scientific basis and often delay couples from seeking the right medical advice.
Commenting on the occasion, Sivani Sarma Deka, COO – India Business, BSV, said, “To be a parent cannot be taken for granted. Today there is a steep increase in infertility rates, both among men and women, due to lifestyle changes, prevalence of chronic diseases and delayed parenthood.7 But, there is hope. Medical and scientific advancements are catalysing the journey of parenthood. As a company driven by science, BSV believes in providing best-in-class fertility treatments to infertile couples. As a market leader in fertility treatments, we are committed to providing individuals and couples, the right information, emotional support, and access to evolving reproductive technologies.
This World IVF Day, we want to create the right awareness. If you are unable to conceive within a year of unprotected sex, go to a qualified infertility specialist. 8 Let’s dispel myths surrounding infertility, with medical facts. Replace stigma with knowledge and make informed decisions while navigating the fertility journey.”
