Heavy Rain Accompanied by Hailstones Hits Papadahandi, Causing Localized Flooding and Damage to Crops

Papadahandi, Mar, 21: Good rainfall was recorded in the Papadahandi area this evening. This is the first major rainfall of the year in the region and has come as a boon for maize farmers affected by dry conditions.

Farmers in the area have cultivated maize in riverbank farmlands. As the maize crop is currently at the flowering stage, this rain has brought relief and reassurance to the farmers.
However, it rained with hailstones for about an hour today. Due to the hailstorm, vegetable crops in several parts of the area have been damaged. There is a possibility that farmers may be affected.

In particular, crops such as tomato, sweet potato, cucumber, brinjal (eggplant), and other vegetables are feared to have suffered damage.
