Indian MMA Fighter Sangram Singh Launches ‘Gir Veggies’ Organic Initiative in Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 13:  Promoting healthier food choices and chemical-free farming, Indian MMA fighter and actor Sangram Singh attended the launch of the organic brand “Gir Veggies” in Mumbai, where he was also announced as the brand ambassador. The initiative has been launched by Gujarat-based farmer-entrepreneur Shailesh Jaria to address rising concerns about food adulteration and excessive use of chemical pesticides.

Speaking at the launch event, Shailesh Jaria highlighted the growing health risks associated with contaminated food, including diseases such as cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart ailments. He said the fear of unknowingly consuming harmful chemicals through everyday fruits and vegetables inspired him to revive traditional organic farming practices.

Under the Gir Veggies brand, organic cultivation is carried out at “Shaileshbhai Ni Wadi” farm located in Amrapur Gir village in Junagadh district, Gujarat. The farm produces more than 30 varieties of fruits and over 50 varieties of vegetables, including mangoes, guavas, bananas, papayas, pomegranates, and jamun. In addition, grains such as wheat, millet, maize, chickpeas, and pigeon pea (tur dal) are also grown using natural farming techniques.

The initiative aims to create a direct farm-to-consumer model, ensuring that fresh and chemical-free produce reaches households without unnecessary intermediaries.

Appreciating the concept, Sangram Singh said that modern urban lifestyles have distanced people from natural and pure food sources. He recalled how, during childhood, people often plucked fruits directly from trees and enjoyed naturally grown produce, an experience that is becoming rare in cities.

“When Shailesh Jaria shared his vision of delivering fresh fruits and vegetables directly from farms to people’s homes, I found the idea extremely positive,” Singh said. He added that he personally tasted the fruits grown at the farm and found them to be of exceptional quality.

As part of its initial rollout, Gir Veggies will begin home delivery of organic fruits and vegetables twice a week in Mumbai’s Kandivali, Borivali, Dahisar, and Malad areas. The initiative aims to strengthen the connection between farmers and consumers while promoting healthier and sustainable food habits.

Sangram Singh will also soon return to the sporting arena, as he is scheduled to compete in an international MMA bout on April 5, 2026, in Argentina under the Samurai Fight League, where he will face an opponent from France.
