New Delhi, 18th October 2025 — In a proud moment for Odisha, Kendujhar district has been conferred the prestigious recognition of ‘Best District’ by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, for its exceptional contributions under the Dharati Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan—a nationwide campaign aimed at empowering tribal communities through inclusive development.

The honour was presented at a national conclave held in New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu addressed key stakeholders and dignitaries during the award ceremony for the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan. The event celebrated outstanding performances by states, districts, blocks, and Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs) that have made notable strides in uplifting tribal populations.

In her address, the President emphasised that the journey towards a developed India cannot be complete without ensuring the equitable progress of all communities—particularly those that have historically been marginalised. “The real progress of any nation lies in the development of every section of society,” she said. President Murmu expressed her satisfaction over the government’s intensified efforts in recent years to bring tangible improvements to the lives of tribal citizens.

Under the Dharati Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, Kendujhar stood out for its innovative and community-driven initiatives that actively involved tribal populations in local governance, education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods. The district administration worked closely with grassroots organisations and tribal leaders to design and implement programs that reflect the unique cultural, economic, and social fabric of the region.

This recognition not only celebrates Kendujhar’s success but also highlights the growing impact of participatory governance models in tribal regions. It serves as a blueprint for other districts aiming to replicate inclusive development strategies that prioritise local engagement and empowerment.

As India accelerates its mission towards becoming a fully developed nation, such initiatives serve as a reminder that inclusive progress—rooted in dignity, equity, and cultural respect—is essential for lasting transformation.
