“Robust Regulation, Responsible Innovation” – The Way Forward for India’s Nutraceutical Industry, Says Shri Rajit Punhani, CEO, FSSAI
The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) successfully hosted the landmark conference “NutraVision 2026: Defining the Next Decade of Human Vitality” today at PHD House, New Delhi. The event brought together leading experts from the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, botanical, and regulatory ecosystems to deliberate on the future of human health, wellness, and preventive care in India and globally.
Shri Rajit Punhani (IAS), CEO, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), highlighted the Authority’s progressive initiatives aimed at strengthening the nutraceutical sector. He emphasized FSSAI’s commitment to a robust regulatory framework ensuring product safety, standardization, and quality while fostering innovation. Key measures discussed included streamlined approval processes, enhanced transparency, promotion of scientific research, and initiatives to build consumer trust. Shri Punhani stressed the importance of industry compliance, stakeholder collaboration, and capacity building to position India as a global hub for high-quality nutraceutical products.
Dr. Vivek Srivastav, Chair, Nutra Task Force, PHDCCI & CEO, Multani Pharmaceuticals Limited, in his concluding remarks, highlighted the increasing global popularity of nutraceuticals, driven by rising health awareness and preventive healthcare adoption. He emphasized India’s unique advantage, given its rich Ayurvedic heritage and natural wellness expertise, in emerging as a global leader in nutraceutical innovation, provided focus continues on quality standards, research, and regulatory compliance.
Dr. Narendra Deo Tripathi, Co-Chair, Nutra Task Force, PHDCCI & AVP-Quality & Regulatory Affairs, Bacfo India Limited, delivered the formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all dignitaries, industry leaders, and PHDCCI for establishing the Nutra Task Force—a timely initiative to strengthen the nutraceutical sector.
