‘साभिनय – SAABHINAYA’ – An evening of Odissi performed by VRINDA CHADHA (Disciple of Guru Padmashri Ranjana Gauhar)
The Odissi dance repertoire is enriched by many aspects. Traditionally the ‘Saabhinaya’ is one such presentation – an intertwining of pure dance and Abhinaya followed alternately.
Much like life, the Saabhinaya is a holistic piece which evokes myriad shades and underlying moods of a situation being expressed through verses of Sahitya (literature woven to melody) corresponding to the syllables of Odissi recited in rhythmic patterns.
Vrinda explores this rich tradition through her Guru, Padmashri & SNA Awardee, Smt. Ranjana Gauhar’s choreographies & works that have been handed down through her lineage. She has been training and performing under her Guru’s aegis for the last 19 years.
