The Metaverse and the Future of Social Experiences: An Exclusive Interview with Adam Bém of Victoria VR

Welcome to our interview with Adam Bém, the co-founder of Victoria VR

Victoria VR is a revolutionary blockchain-based virtual reality metaverse. Powered by Unreal Engine and featuring realistic, highly detailed graphics, it combines a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) with a unique Social experience playground.

Join us as we discuss the developments in the metaverse and blockchain and how the industry can overcome today’s shortcomings to create better immersive experiences.

Hi Adam! Thank you for talking to us. Please tell us about yourself and how you stumbled upon the idea for Victoria VR.

Hi! I am Adam Bém, the co-founder, and COO of Victoria VR. Thank you for having me on board.

Let me begin by saying that I have been highly fascinated by virtual reality, cyber-security, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies for as long as I can remember. I started my first business, which was an automated trading algorithm, back when I was in high school. This business became quite successful and turned out to be an important milestone in my career. After this, I also started and led a cyber security emergency team.

Eventually, blockchain technology and the crypto space caught my attention, and I began to explore and learn more about them. As of now, I have over five years of experience in blockchain technology project management and strategic planning.

My co-founder Ondřej Dobruský and I have envisioned a project like Victoria VR for years. In the literal sense of the phrase, we wanted to create a metaverse where dreams became a reality. We parleyed with some of the most talented developers and tech enthusiasts to build this project, and we can’t wait for you to experience it.

Oh! That’s interesting. For the uninitiated, can you explain in brief what a metaverse is and what its possibilities are?

The metaverse is a virtual universe built to simulate and enhance the real world. This virtual universe comprises multi-connected virtual worlds that could be anything from gaming and social media platforms to virtual cities and even countries. Users experience the metaverse through digital avatars of themselves.

The metaverse allows people to overcome the limitations of the real world and live life as they imagine. They can interact, play, work, learn, attend concerts, travel, and meet friends within the virtual world.

Users can either leverage existing experiences or create experiences of their own. But the bottom line is that imagination is the only limitation. Anything you can imagine, you can do in the metaverse.

I like to describe Metaverse as a 3D version of the Internet. A shared virtual realm in 3D.

Well, that’s intriguing. Can you expand on the vision for VVR and how it overcomes these shortcomings?

Our aim for Victoria VR is to build an all-in-one, holistic virtual world where games, social experiences, and decentralized applications can co-exist. We’ve combined MMORPG with a unique social experience backdrop to make the virtual world universally appealing.

Users on Victoria VR can be, do, and create everything they want. From simply hanging out with friends or playing games to visiting outer space and exploring a world full of adventures, the possibilities in this metaverse are unlimited. In the long term, we hope that Victoria VR will have its own place in the world of entertainment, education, gaming, work, and social media.

To achieve this, we employ the Unreal Engine, the most advanced tool for immersive experiences. Most AAA gaming titles are built on the Unreal Engine and therefore have some of the best gaming experiences. This engine is fully upgradeable, so projects built on it can quickly adapt to the ever-changing interests of gamers.

So, with this combination, we can allow blockchain games to overcome existing projects’ shortcomings and ensure high-quality graphics, fully immersive gameplays, and decentralized architecture.

Sounds very exciting. But since you spoke about MMORPG, how do you think metaverse gaming stands out from regular gaming? And can you tell us more about the play-and-earn gaming model and how it compares to the play-to-earn model?

Well, we can say that metaverse, and blockchain-based gaming is the next step in the evolution of gaming. On the blockchain, the integration of cryptocurrencies and NFTs opens new possibilities like the play-and-earn model.

This initially started off as the play-to-earn model where gamers were rewarded for their time and efforts. But this essentially turns gaming into a job and takes away the fun and entertainment factor. So, the next generation of GameFi projects including us at VVR have pivoted to the play-and-earn model.

In this model, it’s not about how much money you can make by playing a game but rather, the focus is on building the most fun experience possible while tying some of the activities you will do in the game to the economy. Therefore, the NFTs and crypto tokens you get rewarded with are an additional incentive but not the main objective for gamers.

The bottom line is that the play-and-earn model once again makes gaming a fun and enjoyable experience instead of making it feel like a day job.

Okay! It definitely sounds like blockchain and metaverse gaming has an edge over regular gaming. But, do you think gamers are willing to make the transition? Especially considering issues like scalability and security on blockchain network?

Scalability on blockchain networks is of course a concern. But, blockchains are no longer what they used to be in 2009. The industry is undergoing rapid developments and today we have blockchain networks with very high throughputs. Multiple blockchain projects have been working to achieve web-scale speeds and some of them have even succeeded. Apart from that, layer-2 chains and application-specific blockchains directly address and solve scalability issues. So, in the near future, gamers will have better immersive gaming experiences on the blockchain.

When it comes to making the transition, millions of gamers are already on-board with blockchain gaming. The interest in some of the recent blockchain gaming projects proves this fact to us. Gamers are always on the hunt for exciting opportunities and challenges and blockchain gaming provides these opportunities to them. We’re quite positive that they are more than willing to embrace this change and make the transition.

Well, we’ve almost come to an end. But before you go, what do you have to say to someone who thinks the metaverse is a far-fetched dream? Do you think the metaverse will become an integral part of lives in the future?

The metaverse and its vision sound like something out of utopian sci-fi novels. So, it is a given that people will find it far-fetched. However, they’ll be happy to know tech companies and entrepreneurs worldwide are pouring in billions to make this vision a reality. Our very aim at Victoria VR is to bring this vision to life and create a metaverse in the truest sense. These developments may take time, but the metaverse is real, and it is the future.

And yes, I do believe the metaverse will become an integral part of our lives. It will become the very source of entertainment, information, and interaction in the near future.
