The Council warmly welcomed the new administration and expressed its hope for a constructive partnership to strengthen entrepreneurship, encourage investment, and create a more business-friendly ecosystem across the state.
The dignitaries from Bengal Business Council present during the meet: Shri Subrata Dutta, Vice President; Shri Debarshi Duttagupta, Vice President; Shri Avishek Auddy, Chairman; Shri Subhashis Dutt, Founder & General Secretary; Shri Dattatreya Bhar, Treasurer; Shri Gourab Ghosh, Director of Events; Smt. As this new chapter begins, we placed a few humble expectations before the new government:
1. Equal Opportunity for Native Entrepreneurs:
We seek no special privileges, only the same supportive ecosystem that businesses in other states enjoy. As national commerce grows under Central Government leadership, we hope Bengal will be an active participant. Local small business owners, the true sons of the soil, deserve consistent encouragement and support.
2. Unified Licensing System:
We respectfully urge a “One State, One License” system integrating Fire, Environment, and Trade clearances. If approvals exceed 30 days, an alternative mechanism should allow entrepreneurs to begin operations without delay.
3. Collaborative Entrepreneurship Fund:
We propose a joint fund between the Government and Bengal Business Council to provide seed capital and mentorship to promising young Bengali entrepreneurs who lack initial resources.
4. Strategic Focus on North Bengal:
We welcome the integration of premier institutes like IIT and IIM in North Bengal. To unlock the region’s potential, we advocate focused development of the tyre industry and a major expansion of tourism.
5. Curriculum Reform and Heritage Awareness:
Business management and financial literacy should become core subjects in state-run institutions. Our youth must learn Bengal’s mercantile legacy, from Chand Sadagar’s maritime dominance to Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray’s industrial vision, and understand that enterprise is deeply rooted in our identity.
In conclusion, the Bengal Business Council remains committed to working collectively towards a stronger, progressive, and economically empowered Bengal. The Council looks forward to meaningful collaboration with the new government to create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs, encourage investment, generate employment, and strengthen Bengal’s position as a leading business and industrial hub. Through unity, innovation, and shared vision, the Council aims to contribute positively to the long-term growth and development of the state.
