DigiHaat Launches ‘Swadeshi’ Platform to Promote Indian-Made Products and Local Producers

New Delhi, May 12: Government-backed digital commerce platform DigiHaat, operating on the Open Network for Digital Commerce, has launched a new initiative called “Swadeshi”, a dedicated marketplace aimed at promoting Made-in-Bharat products and strengthening local production ecosystems.

The new vertical has been introduced in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, focusing on expanding opportunities for Indian producers and improving direct market access for small businesses and grassroots entrepreneurs.

Direct Market Access for Local Producers

Swadeshi will operate as a dedicated marketplace within the DigiHaat app, allowing consumers to directly purchase products from artisans, farmer producer organizations (FPOs), self-help groups (SHGs), NGOs, and Indian brands.

The platform will feature a wide range of curated Indian products, including food grains, seeds, apparel, handicrafts, home décor, bags, and daily essentials.

According to DigiHaat, more than 2,000 artisans and over 1,100 farmer groups across India are already part of the network, helping expand rural and small-scale enterprise participation in digital commerce.

Strengthening Local Economy and Self-Reliance

Company representatives said the initiative is designed to strengthen India’s economic ecosystem by connecting producers directly with consumers, reducing dependency on intermediaries and global supply chains.

Every purchase made through the platform is expected to contribute to local income generation, rural entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods, while promoting Indian-made goods in the domestic market.

The initiative follows the principle of “Bharat Se, Bharat Tak”, aiming to build a stronger connection between production hubs and consumers across the country.

Expanding Digital Commerce Reach

DigiHaat has been expanding its services beyond e-commerce, having recently introduced metro ticketing services in cities such as Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The platform has also crossed 2 million downloads, reflecting growing user adoption.

Why This Matters & Benefits

The Swadeshi marketplace is expected to:

  • Support small businesses, artisans, and farmers with direct market access
  • Promote local manufacturing and rural entrepreneurship
  • Reduce reliance on global supply chains
  • Strengthen India’s vision of a self-reliant digital economy
  • Increase visibility and demand for Indian-made products

Outlook

With its expanded ecosystem, DigiHaat aims to evolve into a unified digital commerce platform, combining retail, services, and mobility solutions while supporting India’s broader goals of inclusive and self-sustained economic growth.
