Government Keeping Close Watch on Rupee Decline, Says Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, May 21: Union Minister Piyush Goyal has said the government is carefully monitoring the recent weakening of the Indian rupee and is considering suitable measures to maintain financial stability.

Addressing concerns over the currency’s movement, Goyal noted that fluctuations in global markets and international economic developments have affected currencies across several countries, including India. He said the government is assessing the situation closely and remains prepared to respond whenever necessary.

According to the minister, authorities are in regular touch with financial institutions and market stakeholders to evaluate the impact of the rupee’s decline on trade, investments, and the broader economy.

Goyal emphasized that India’s economic fundamentals remain strong and reiterated the government’s focus on supporting growth, improving exports, and maintaining investor confidence despite global uncertainties.

He also assured that policymakers are actively reviewing available options to reduce volatility and ensure that the economy remains resilient in the face of external pressures.
