New Delhi, Aug 26: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is monitoring 1,775 major infrastructure projects across 17 Central Ministries, with a combined revised cost of ₹37.11 lakh crore, according to its latest flash report for July 2026.
The projects have recorded cumulative expenditure of ₹19.26 lakh crore, which is around 51.9 per cent of their total revised cost. The spending indicates steady progress across a large number of major infrastructure projects.
Around 675 projects, accounting for 38 per cent of the total, have achieved more than 80 per cent physical progress. Another 305 projects have crossed 80 per cent financial completion, showing that many projects are approaching their final stages.
Transport and logistics account for the largest share of the overall investment. The sector includes roads and highways, railways, aviation, urban public transport, shipping and inland waterways. It covers 1,246 projects with a combined revised cost of about ₹19.81 lakh crore.
The energy sector is the second-largest area of investment, with 205 projects valued at around ₹10.66 lakh crore. These projects cover oil and gas infrastructure, power generation, transmission and distribution, and energy storage.
The remaining projects are spread across communications, water and sanitation, social and commercial infrastructure, as well as sectors such as coal, steel, metals and mining.
The progress data shows that the infrastructure pipeline contains both newly started projects and large projects nearing completion. The government continues to track their physical and financial progress to monitor implementation and identify areas requiring attention.
Overall, the figures highlight the scale of ongoing infrastructure investment in India and the continued focus on improving transport, energy, public services and economic connectivity.
