Jan 25: India is gearing up to celebrate its 75th Republic Day tomorrow, marking the anniversary of the adoption of its constitution on January 26, 1950. The Republic Day is one of the most important national festivals in India, as it symbolizes the country’s democratic values and constitutional principles.
The main highlight of the Republic Day celebrations is the grand parade that takes place at Rajpath, the ceremonial boulevard in New Delhi. The parade showcases the cultural and military diversity of India, as well as its achievements in various fields. The parade is also attended by the President of India, who is the chief guest of the event, and a foreign dignitary, who is invited as the guest of honor.
This year, the guest of honor for the Republic Day parade is the Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihide Suga, who will be visiting India for the first time since taking office in September 2020. The visit is expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Japan, as well as enhance their cooperation on regional and global issues.
The Republic Day parade will also feature some new and innovative elements this year, such as a flypast by Rafale fighter jets, a tableau depicting the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and a contingent of Bangladesh armed forces, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Bangladesh. The parade will also have a reduced number of participants and spectators due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Apart from the parade, various other cultural and patriotic programs will be held across the country to mark Republic Day. The Prime Minister of India will also address the nation from the Red Fort, where he will unfurl the national flag and pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom.
The Republic Day is a proud occasion for every Indian citizen, as it reminds them of their rights and duties as well as their rich and diverse heritage. It is also a day to reaffirm their commitment to uphold the ideals of democracy, secularism, and unity in diversity that define India as a republic.
