Nelly’s Belly by Cargill H. Alleyne now available from Histria Books

Histria Books is pleased to announce the release of Nelly’s Belly, written by Cargill H. Alleyne and illustrated by Anekay Kelly. This is a new installment of the Anatomy For Kids series. This story is published by Histria Kids, an imprint of Histria Books dedicated to outstanding works for children that both educate and entertain.

Nelly’s Belly turns a familiar childhood worry into an inviting first tour of the human body. When Nelly mistakes a noisy stomach for a frightening creature, her Nana responds with patience, rhyme, and clear-eyed science, introducing the organs at work inside her.

Written by a real-life physician, this picture book makes anatomy feel close to everyday life rather than remote or clinical. Kidneys become filters, the bladder a balloon, and the liver a busy chef, while the book still respects children’s appetite for real words and real answers. Its South Asian family setting and Nana’s warmth give the lesson a lived-in, intergenerational feel. At a moment when families are looking for books that help children name what they feel and understand their bodies without alarm, Nelly’s Belly offers information with humor, tenderness, and a satisfying sense of discovery for curious young readers everywhere.
