Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, MeitY and CEO, India Semiconductor Mission said, “The journey of electronics manufacturing started in the last 10 years with the play of EMS assembly, initially SKD and later on CKD. For deepening of the value chains, MeitY earlier introduced SPECS and now has come out with ECMS scheme for electronic components manufacturing. We are also aiming to increase further value addition of 15-35% (depending on the complexity of the device) which will come from designing, fabrication and packaging of semiconductor chips. In addition, we are trying to develop a complete ecosystem which will include equipment/components manufacturing, facilities for chemicals, gases and materials. These are the ingredients of the complete ecosystem.”
