The high-level meeting will bring together finance ministers and central bank governors from the 11 BRICS member countries to deliberate on key economic and financial issues affecting the global economy.

The meeting is scheduled to commence at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday at Hotel Rambagh in Jaipur. Sitharaman and Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra, who arrived in Jaipur on Tuesday night, are scheduled to address the inaugural session.

Discussions during the two-day meeting are expected to focus on economic growth, financial liberalisation, risk management and strengthening financial cooperation among BRICS economies. The participating countries will also deliberate on emerging challenges facing the global economy and explore ways to enhance economic coordination among member nations.

The meeting is scheduled to conclude at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, following discussions on key areas of mutual economic and financial interest.

Ahead of the meeting, Sitharaman travelled from New Delhi to Jaipur by Vande Bharat train. During the journey, she interacted with fellow passengers and engaged in discussions with two postgraduate media students and two young media professionals accompanying her.

The interaction covered a wide range of subjects, including geopolitics, the economy and issues concerning India’s youth, providing an opportunity for an informal exchange of views between the Finance Minister and young professionals.

The BRICS FMCBG meeting comes at a time when global economies are navigating challenges related to growth, financial stability, geopolitical uncertainty and evolving international economic conditions.

India’s leadership of the BRICS process is expected to place greater emphasis on strengthening economic cooperation, promoting financial stability and developing coordinated approaches to emerging global challenges.
