New Delhi, September 24, 2026: The NDTV–AM Green IGPL Golf Pro-Am was unveiled in New Delhi, marking the beginning of a new multi-city sporting journey that will bring together some of India’s leading professional golfers and business leaders on the fairway.
The launch also marked the announcement of the NDTV-IGPL partnership – a collaboration built around a shared ambition to take golf to a wider audience while creating a powerful intersection of sport, leadership and meaningful connections.
The event brought together an eclectic mix of sporting champions and personalities from different spheres, including Yuvraj Singh, Leander Paes, Nikhil Chopra, Shiv Kapur, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Papa CJ and Waluscha D’Souza — setting the tone for a sporting journey imagined to travel beyond the conventional boundaries of a golf tournament.
Yuvraj Singh unveiled the trophy for the upcoming series, while the official NDTV–AM Green IGPL Golf Pro-Am jersey was unveiled alongside IGPL CEO Uttam Mundy and NDTV CEO and Editor-in-Chief Rahul Kanwal.
In a freewheeling conversation with NDTV Executive Editor – Sports, Gaurav Gala, Yuvraj spoke about his unlikely journey into golf and how the pandemic changed the way he saw the sport. “I remember when I was young and travelling for cricket practice, I would often pass the Chandigarh Golf Club and tell myself that I’d never step foot there because it looked too slow. Then COVID happened. A new golf course opened, and there was hardly anyone around, so I started hitting a few balls. One day I drove the ball really well, and for the next six days I couldn’t do it again. That’s when I became curious about what this game was all about,” Yuvraj said.
Speaking at the launch, Rahul Kanwal said, “The whole idea is not just to expand the universe of golf but to make golf fun and bring in as many people as possible.”
He added, “Golf has a unique way of bringing competition and conversation together. With the NDTV–AM Green IGPL Golf Pro-Am, we are creating a platform that brings some of India’s finest golfers and leading business names onto the same fairway. It is truly the course of champions and the conversation of leaders.”
Tennis legend Leander Paes underlined IGPL’s broader potential and international ambition. “IGPL is a fantastic league because it has a truly global vision. I think the format has tremendous potential to grow the game and inspire the next generation of golfers,” Paes said.
For Uttam Mundy, CEO of IGPL and a former professional golfer, the evolution of the golfing ecosystem represents a remarkable shift from the years when he competed professionally. “It’s a completely different ball game today. When we were playing professionally, things were very different. We often talked among friends and wished we had some of the opportunities players have now. Back then, the ecosystem was entirely different, but I’m glad to see how far the sport has come,” Mundy said.
With 10 Pro-Am events planned across key golfing and business centres, the NDTV–AM Green IGPL Golf Pro-Am has been conceived on a significantly larger canvas. By bringing professionals, corporate leaders, and influential voices together across multiple cities, the series aims to create an experience where conversations about the game become as significant as the competition itself.
The Pro-Am is designed as much around what happens beyond the greens as what happens on them — creating space for conversations, relationships and shared experiences between people who have excelled in very different fields but are united by the pursuit of performance and excellence.
Bringing together professional golfers and some of India’s foremost names from business and beyond, the NDTV–AM Green IGPL Golf Pro–Am sets out to take golf to a wider audience and build a distinctive sporting platform with impact both on and beyond the fairway.
The series tees off on October 3 at Qutub Golf Course in Delhi and will travel through key golfing and business centres including Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Vizag, Pune, Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
