Chula and Huaqiao University Deepen Cooperation in New Energy Education and Research

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, led the university’s senior management team in participating in key activities in Xiamen, the People’s Republic of China, on August 11, 2026, with the aim of further strengthening academic collaboration between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. 

The university’s management team began the mission with a visit and meeting at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Xiamen, where they received a warm welcome. The meeting reaffirmed the close cooperation between Thai diplomatic missions and Thai higher education institutions in advancing international collaboration. 

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, together with the university’s management team, then visited the International College of New Energy (ICNE) at Huaqiao University (HQU), including its laboratories and various facilities that will accommodate students enrolled in the dual-degree program jointly operated by Chulalongkorn University and Huaqiao University. 

On this occasion, the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, and Huaqiao University jointly signed the Agreement on Deepening Cooperation for ICNE. This marks another important milestone in developing cooperation in education, research, and the development of highly capable personnel in the field of new energy. 

In addition, the two universities held the first meeting of the ICNE Joint Management Committee to establish an operational framework and mechanisms for close and continuous cooperation, particularly in academic administration and the joint development of curricula. 

The visit reflects the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University’s continued commitment to building and expanding international collaboration networks to enhance the capabilities of the next generation of scientists and innovators while jointly advancing a sustainable future for new energy through international cooperation.
