New Delhi, June 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, marking an important engagement aimed at deepening cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
The discussions covered a wide range of areas of mutual interest, including connectivity, trade and investment, border management, energy cooperation, and capacity building. Both leaders reviewed ongoing bilateral initiatives and explored new avenues to further strengthen India–Myanmar relations.
The meeting underscored the significance of India’s Neighbourhood First policy and Act East policy, with a shared emphasis on enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration. The leaders highlighted the importance of closer cooperation in infrastructure development and cross-border linkages to support growth and stability in the region.
Security-related issues along the shared border were also discussed, with both sides agreeing on the need for continued coordination to ensure peace, stability, and effective management of border areas. The talks reflected a mutual commitment to addressing shared challenges through constructive dialogue and cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s commitment to supporting Myanmar’s development priorities through capacity-building initiatives and development partnerships. He also emphasized the importance of strong regional collaboration in promoting stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides agreeing to maintain regular high-level engagement and further strengthen institutional mechanisms for bilateral cooperation.
