Bhubaneswar, Sept. 8 (UDN): A fresh search operation was launched at the Kuakhai River on Tuesday after a man was reported missing near Tankapani Bridge in Bhubaneswar, just days after another youth lost his life in a similar incident at the same location.
According to sources, the incident came to light after an autorickshaw was found parked on the bridge. Police and Fire Services personnel were alerted, following which rescue teams began searching the river.
The missing man has been identified as Sanjay Swain, a resident of the Old Bhubaneswar area. Firefighters have been conducting an extensive search at multiple points along the river, but he had not been traced at the time of reporting.
Search operation continues
Fire Services teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and launched a coordinated search operation in the river. Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the missing man while also trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials have not yet confirmed what led to the disappearance, and the investigation remains underway.
Second incident in a matter of days
The latest case has drawn attention because another youth was reported missing from the same stretch near Tankapani Bridge over the weekend. After an overnight search operation, his body was recovered from the Kuakhai River on Sunday.
With two such incidents reported within days, authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the cases as rescue efforts and the investigation continue.
