India to Upgrade Power Transmission Network with INR 9 Trillion Investment

May 25: India’s power transmission infrastructure is expected to undergo a major expansion worth around ₹9 trillion as the country accelerates its transition toward renewable energy, according to a recent report.

The large-scale upgrade plan aims to strengthen the national grid, improve transmission capacity, and ensure efficient evacuation of electricity generated from increasing renewable sources such as solar and wind power.

With India rapidly scaling up clean energy adoption, the existing transmission system is set to be modernised to handle higher loads, reduce bottlenecks, and support long-distance power transfer across states.

The report highlights that this investment push will be crucial in integrating renewable energy into the mainstream power supply system while maintaining grid stability and reliability.

Experts believe the planned infrastructure expansion will play a key role in supporting India’s long-term energy transition goals and ensuring sustainable power availability for growing demand.
