Bhubaneswar, May 12: Odisha Odia Language, Literature & Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj reviewed the ongoing Kalamandal project near Sainik School in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday and directed officials to expedite construction while ensuring quality standards are maintained.
During his site visit and review meeting, the Minister instructed the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and the Culture Department to speed up work and ensure timely delivery of the project.
The ₹173-crore Kalamandal complex is being developed as a major cultural hub featuring a 2,000-seat auditorium and a 500-seat open-air theatre, aimed at hosting large cultural and public events.
The Minister emphasized the need for modern facilities, including advanced fire safety systems, upgraded lighting, audio-visual equipment, and LED display infrastructure. He also called for regular monitoring to maintain construction quality.
Officials said the project, developed with inputs from experts in the cultural sector, is expected to become a landmark venue that strengthens Odisha’s cultural identity once completed.
