Sambalpur Shital Sasthi Yatra Committee Meets Odisha CM, Extends Invitation

Bhubaneswar, May 20: Representatives of the Shital Sasthi Yatra committees from Sambalpur met Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi in a courtesy visit and extended an invitation for the upcoming edition of the historic festival.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Chief Minister on preparations for the annual Shital Sasthi Yatra and discussed key aspects of its organisation. The festival, deeply rooted in Odisha’s cultural and religious traditions, symbolises the divine wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the committee members in preserving and promoting this centuries-old tradition and assured full support from the state government for the smooth conduct of the celebrations.

He also emphasised the importance of safeguarding Odisha’s cultural heritage and ensuring effective arrangements for large-scale public events.

The Shital Sasthi Yatra of Sambalpur is a traditional cultural festival celebrating the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Known for its grand processions, devotional rituals, and vibrant cultural performances, it is one of the most significant festivals of western Odisha, attracting devotees and visitors from across the region.
