Mumbai, May 19: India women’s cricket vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has expressed confidence that the team is in strong shape ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins next month in England and Wales.
The 12-team tournament will get underway on June 12, with India scheduled to face arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening match on June 14.
Speaking at a media interaction in Mumbai, Mandhana said the team’s training camp has gone well, but chose not to reveal specific details about their preparations, keeping focus firmly on the upcoming global event.
“The camp has gone well, and I would like to keep it at that. I would not like to go into specifics as we are heading into a World Cup,” she said.
With strong performances in recent tournaments, India will enter the competition with confidence and expectations running high among fans and cricket experts alike.
