As AI Adoption Outpaces Controls, ISACA Launches Advanced in AI Risk Certification

Bangalore, April 16: As artificial intelligence adoption accelerates across industries, ISACA has introduced the Advanced in AI Risk (AAIR) certification to help IT risk professionals effectively govern, assess, and manage AI-related risks across enterprises.

With organizations increasingly leveraging AI, risk professionals are faced with balancing innovation with robust risk management amid emerging vulnerabilities and threats. The AAIR credential is designed to equip professionals with specialized skills to navigate these complexities and manage AI risk across its lifecycle.

The certification validates candidates’ expertise across three core areas: AI risk governance and framework integration, AI lifecycle risk management, and AI risk program management. It also prepares professionals to evaluate AI-related vulnerabilities, assess opportunities and impacts, and implement effective risk responses while ensuring cross-functional collaboration and oversight.

“AI is moving faster than many organizations are prepared for, and IT risk professionals are on the front lines,” said Erik Prusch. “The launch of AAIR gives risk professionals the practical skills they need now to understand, assess and manage AI risk.”

Eligibility and Learning Resources

The AAIR certification is aimed at experienced IT risk and advisory professionals looking to enhance their expertise in AI risk management. Candidates must hold one of 25 recognized prerequisite certifications, including CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CDPSE, CISSP, and others, along with relevant professional experience and successful completion of the certification exam.

To support candidates, ISACA offers a range of preparatory resources, including the AAIR Online Review Course, Questions, Answers & Explanations Database, and the AAIR Review Manual available in digital and print formats.

Strengthening AI-Driven Digital Trust

As part of its broader commitment to advancing digital trust in an AI-driven world, ISACA has also launched additional certifications such as the Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) and Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM), alongside a suite of AI-focused training programs.

“For decades, ISACA has set the standard for trusted leadership in credentialing and training,” said Shannon Donahue. “With the rapid pace of technological change, our growing portfolio of AI-focused certifications will empower professionals to drive responsible innovation within their organizations.”

Through these initiatives, ISACA continues to support the global digital trust workforce in adapting to emerging technologies while ensuring robust governance, security, and risk management practices.
