May 20: Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that more than 8.5 million developers are now actively using the company’s artificial intelligence models every month, reflecting the rapid global adoption of Google’s AI ecosystem.

Speaking about the company’s long-term AI strategy, Pichai highlighted growing demand for generative AI tools and cloud-based AI infrastructure across businesses and developers worldwide.

He also noted that Alphabet is preparing for major investments in infrastructure and technology expansion, with planned capital expenditure expected to reach nearly $190 billion over the coming years. The investment will primarily focus on strengthening AI capabilities, data centres, cloud computing, and advanced hardware systems needed to support next-generation AI services.

According to Pichai, AI is becoming central to Google’s products and platforms, with developers increasingly integrating the company’s models into applications, enterprise tools, and consumer services.

The announcement underscores intensifying competition among major technology firms as companies race to expand AI offerings and build large-scale computing infrastructure to meet rising demand.
