India, 29 September, 2025 – India’s digital public infrastructure is taking another leap forward. Sahamati Labs, the innovation arm of Sahamati (the industry alliance driving the Account Aggregator (AA) ecosystem), has partnered with Google Cloud India to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the Account Aggregator (AA) framework, a first-of-its-kind initiative that could redefine how millions of Indians access safe, inclusive, and efficient financial services. At the heart of this collaboration is the launch of an AI Center of Excellence (CoE), dedicated to building scalable AI-led solutions across lending, insurance, and wealth management, while positioning India’s AA model as a global reference point for AI-driven financial inclusion.
India has already set global benchmarks with UPI and Aadhaar. The Account Aggregator (AA) framework, currently enabling consent-based financial data sharing for over 2.12+ billion accounts, is poised to become the next global model. With AI woven into its design, Sahamati Labs and Google Cloud aim to strengthen trust, expand accessibility, and accelerate innovation in digital finance, ensuring reach from urban centers to the most remote villages.
This collaboration leverages Google Cloud’s generative AI capabilities that enables the development of advanced models for predictive insights, personalized recommendations, and sophisticated fraud detection to accelerate India’s financial future. Given the critical need for secure, consent-based data sharing within the Account Aggregator (AA) framework, Google Cloud’s data privacy-preserving portfolio will allow sensitive data to be shared with full confidentiality and privacy. Furthermore, Google Cloud’s strong support for Indian languages across its AI services directly advances the goal of Inclusion at scale, effectively helping to overcome literacy and language barriers to democratize access to financial services.
The collaboration will focus on three critical priorities shaping the future of finance in India:
- Inclusion at Scale: AI-powered speech-to-text and text-to-speech in Indic languages to break barriers of language and literacy.
- Trust by Design: Advanced AI to detect fraud, prevent mule accounts, and strengthen identity verification.
- Efficiency for Impact: AI-led proof-of-concepts to help banks and fintechs deliver faster, more reliable, and affordable services.
BG Mahesh, CEO, Sahamati said, “The Account Aggregator framework is the next frontier for financial services. Its success depends on trust, inclusion, and innovation. By embedding AI at its core with Google Cloud, we are setting the stage for India to once again define a new global benchmark, this time for financial inclusion at scale.”
Sashi Sreedharan, Managing Director, Google Cloud India added: “At Google Cloud, we believe technology should be inclusive. By bringing our AI into India’s Account Aggregator framework, we are helping make financial services safer, more accessible, creating a model that can inspire financial ecosystems worldwide.”
Kiran Gopinath, Head, Sahamati Labs and Chief Innovation Officer, Sahamati, said: “We are building AI-driven solutions with Google Cloud that solve problems at an ecosystem level, making financial processes safer, smarter, and more adaptable. From predictive insights to real-time fraud prevention, our innovations are designed to solve complex challenges at scale and deliver tangible impact for millions of Indians.”
By combining the strength of India’s digital public infrastructure with cutting-edge AI, this collaboration aims to create a financial ecosystem that is trustworthy, inclusive, and scalable to a billion lives. The ambition is clear: to make India the world’s most powerful example of how AI and digital public goods can transform finance, ensuring that every citizen, regardless of language, literacy, or location, can participate with confidence in the digital economy.
