New Delhi, May 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to the welfare and healthcare of the people of West Bengal, while highlighting the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in the state.
Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister said the well-being of the people of Bengal remains a top priority for the Union government. He emphasized that the rollout of Ayushman Bharat would provide greater access to affordable and quality healthcare for families across the state.
The Prime Minister noted that the flagship health initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of medical treatment on economically weaker sections and ensure that citizens receive timely healthcare support.
He also underlined the Centre’s broader focus on inclusive development, improved healthcare infrastructure and social welfare programmes designed to benefit every section of society.
According to officials, the expansion of healthcare coverage under Ayushman Bharat is expected to strengthen medical access for millions of beneficiaries in West Bengal, particularly in rural and underserved regions.
The Centre reiterated its commitment to working towards better healthcare facilities, social security and economic opportunities for the people of the state.
