Indian equities rise on hopes of easing Iran tensions

New Delhi, May 19: Indian stock markets traded higher on Tuesday as investor sentiment improved following fresh signals from U.S. President Donald Trump about a possible nuclear agreement with Iran.

Benchmark indices, including the Sensex and Nifty, opened in the green, supported by optimism that easing geopolitical tensions in West Asia could help stabilise global markets and reduce pressure on crude oil prices.

Buying interest was seen across several sectors, particularly in technology and select mid-cap stocks, while banking and metal shares witnessed mixed movement during early trade. Analysts said the possibility of diplomatic progress with Iran helped calm global risk concerns, encouraging investors to return to equities.

Adani Group stocks also remained in focus amid ongoing developments surrounding the conglomerate, adding to market activity.

Despite the positive start, market participants are expected to stay cautious as they monitor global cues, oil price movements, and foreign investor activity for further direction.
