Zambia to Roll Out India’s eVIN Platform to Modernise Medicine Supply Chain System

Lusaka, May 20: Zambia is set to adopt India’s Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) platform to strengthen its medicine and vaccine supply chain management system, in a move aimed at improving efficiency and reducing stock shortages.

The digital platform, originally developed in India, helps track vaccine and essential medicine stocks in real time, enabling better inventory control, timely distribution, and reduced wastage.

Health officials in Zambia said the system will be used to enhance transparency and ensure uninterrupted availability of critical medicines, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

The adoption is part of broader efforts to modernise the country’s healthcare logistics using proven digital tools. Indian health technology models have increasingly attracted international interest for their scalability and effectiveness in large public health systems.

Officials noted that the platform is expected to improve forecasting, reduce supply gaps, and strengthen last-mile delivery of essential health products.
