New Delhi, May 26: India Post has achieved its highest-ever annual revenue of Rs 15,373 crore in FY26, reflecting a major transformation in the country’s postal and logistics network powered by technology, digital services and growing e-commerce demand.
Union Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani said the department has witnessed an exceptional turnaround, with FY26 recording a single-year revenue jump of Rs 2,100 crore — the strongest growth in India Post’s recent history.
“India Post is evolving from a traditional postal network into a modern, technology-driven service platform connecting citizens, businesses and rural India,” the minister said.
A key driver of this growth has been the rapid expansion of the parcel and logistics segment, which grew by nearly 70 per cent during the year. The growth has been supported by digital innovations such as OTP-based delivery, SMS tracking, UPI-enabled payments and strategic partnerships with major e-commerce companies.
According to the minister, parcel services alone now have the potential to generate nearly Rs 10,000 crore in annual revenue as online shopping and doorstep delivery services continue to expand across the country.
India Post has also strengthened delivery efficiency through route optimisation and the rollout of 24-hour and 48-hour Speed Post services in six metro cities, significantly improving customer experience.
As part of its broader modernisation programme, the department is investing Rs 5,800 crore under the Advanced Postal Technology (APT) initiative through the IT 2.0 platform. The initiative aims to create a fully digital ecosystem where citizens can access savings schemes, insurance services and postal products online with minimal paperwork and faster processing.
The transformation effort also includes advanced security features such as Aadhaar-linked e-KYC, facial recognition-based system access and secure cloud infrastructure.
Through India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), the department currently facilitates nearly Rs 45,000 crore annually under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes, playing a crucial role in delivering financial services and welfare benefits to remote and rural regions.
India Post is also expanding social welfare outreach through schemes such as the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, under which nearly 3.8 crore girl children have been enrolled.
Alongside digital reforms, the department is modernising post office infrastructure across urban centres with upgraded customer service facilities, digital counters and Aadhaar services, while large-scale employee training programmes are being conducted to improve customer engagement and operational efficiency.
The latest growth milestone highlights India Post’s emergence as a modern public service institution at the centre of India’s digital and financial inclusion journey.
