May 27: The Indian government is maintaining close surveillance over the evolving Ebola situation following recent outbreaks reported in parts of Africa, even as authorities confirmed that no Ebola case has been detected in the country so far.

Health officials have heightened precautionary measures after a traveller returning from Uganda was placed under observation at Bengaluru’s State-run Epidemic Diseases Hospital. The individual was isolated as a preventive step after reporting mild symptoms, including body ache, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Authorities said the case is being carefully monitored and evaluated in line with established health and safety protocols. Officials also stressed that there is currently no confirmed Ebola infection in India.
The Centre and state health departments are continuing to track international developments closely while strengthening screening and surveillance mechanisms to ensure preparedness against any potential health risk.
