New Delhi, June 1: A fire broke out on the second floor of the Ministry of Education office located within the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) campus in the ITO area of central Delhi on Monday morning, prompting a swift emergency response from fire services.
The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received an emergency call at around 9:37 a.m. and immediately rushed eight fire tenders to the site. Firefighting teams acted quickly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the administrative complex.
Officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported in the incident. As a precaution, personnel present in the building were safely evacuated while firefighting operations were underway.
Preliminary information suggests that the fire was confined to a limited section of the second floor, reducing the risk of wider structural damage. The exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined, and authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain how the fire started.
Officials also clarified that the incident has not disrupted key services handled by the Ministry of Education, including administrative functions related to examinations, scholarships, and policy-related work. Normal operations are expected to continue without interruption.
Authorities are currently assessing the extent of material damage while ensuring full safety compliance at the site. Further updates will be provided once the investigation progresses.
