New Delhi, June 2: South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile on Tuesday held discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on ways to further deepen the longstanding and multifaceted partnership between India and South Africa.
The talks focused on expanding cooperation across key areas including trade and investment, defence and security, education, digital innovation, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides reviewed the progress in bilateral relations and explored new opportunities to strengthen collaboration in line with shared developmental priorities.
Jaishankar welcomed the visit of the South African delegation and reiterated India’s commitment to enhancing its engagement with South Africa, a key partner in the Global South. He highlighted the importance of continued cooperation in multilateral forums and global platforms on issues of mutual interest.
Deputy President Mashatile appreciated India’s support and emphasized South Africa’s interest in deepening economic and strategic ties, particularly in sectors that drive inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Both leaders also discussed regional and global developments, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation within frameworks such as BRICS and other multilateral groupings.
The meeting underscored the enduring nature of India–South Africa relations, rooted in historical ties and strengthened by growing cooperation in trade, technology, and global diplomacy.
