India Engages US on Section 301 Review, Reaffirms Commitment to Bilateral Trade Talks

June 3: The Government of India has confirmed ongoing engagement with the United States regarding the Section 301 trade review proceedings, while also continuing active discussions under the broader India–US bilateral trade framework.

Officials stated that India is in regular communication with US authorities, addressing issues raised under the review process and working to ensure that bilateral trade remains balanced, predictable, and mutually beneficial.

Section 301 proceedings in the US typically examine whether certain trade practices of partner countries are considered restrictive or unfair to American commerce. India is among several economies currently under review as part of this process.

The government emphasized that India’s approach remains firmly rooted in dialogue and constructive engagement, with a focus on safeguarding domestic economic interests while maintaining strong trade relations with the United States.

In parallel, both sides continue to advance discussions on the broader trade agenda, including areas such as market access, investment facilitation, technology collaboration, and resilient supply chains.

Officials reiterated that India views the United States as a key strategic and economic partner and remains committed to resolving trade-related concerns through negotiation and cooperation rather than confrontation.

The ongoing engagement, the government said, reflects the strength of India–US economic ties and the shared objective of building a fair and forward-looking trade partnership.
