India’s Infrastructure Growth Fueling Steel Demand, Says Goa CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji, May 19: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that India is witnessing a strong phase of infrastructure and industrial expansion, which is significantly driving demand for steel and iron ore.

Speaking at the International Iron Ore Conference 2.0 held in Arpora, North Goa, Sawant highlighted that the ongoing infrastructure push across the country has created substantial opportunities for the steel and mining sectors.

He stressed the importance of moving beyond raw mineral extraction and focusing on value addition in the iron ore industry to strengthen long-term economic gains and industrial competitiveness.

The Chief Minister noted that the conference has become an important platform for policy dialogue, market insights, and engagement between stakeholders in the steel and mining ecosystem.

He added that such discussions play a crucial role in shaping the future direction of the sector, particularly at a time when India’s infrastructure development is accelerating rapidly.
