Hamilton-based insurance advisor Lucy Lukic has hit a huge milestone in her career with the launch of Anchor Group Financial Inc. (AFGI) in Stoney Creek, Ontario.

The new company provides client-focused insurance strategies for families, individuals, and business owners who require guidance on wealth protection, succession planning, and long-term risk management. With operations fully underway, AGFI delivers custom policies built around the specific financial realities of local communities and corporate entities.

Serving as President and Lead Insurance Advisor, Lukic brings a background in financial services and insurance advisory to AGFI. Her prior work includes positions at major financial institutions such as CIBC, yourCFO Advisory Group, and Burgeonvest Bick Securities Ltd. She also previously led Burgeonvest Insurance Corp., gaining years of experience navigating client requirements and changing market regulations. Through AGFI, Lukic unites this extensive background into an independent, specialized practice focused directly on client safety and legacy preservation.

“Establishing AGFI helps our team deliver clear, protective insurance strategies tailored directly to client priorities,” says Lukic. “Our goal is to assist individuals and business owners in building reliable protection before life presents unexpected changes, ensuring that every asset built over a lifetime remains secure.”

AGFI concentrates heavily on custom coverage design and financial risk mitigation. Rather than applying generic options, Lukic guides clients through insurance choices that address individual family goals, protect business interests, and reduce potential tax liabilities for beneficiaries. The practice works with clients to identify vulnerabilities in existing financial plans and craft targeted policy arrangements that directly address those gaps.

A central focus for AGFI includes life insurance structures tailored to manage estate tax obligations. When individuals pass away, substantial tax liabilities can be triggered unexpectedly on registered investments, such as Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs), or on secondary properties, such as family cottages. Without proper policy measures in place, surviving beneficiaries often face steep tax demands that force the swift sale of cherished family assets. Lukic uses specialized permanent life insurance policies to cover these heavy tax bills, keeping family property intact.

Alongside traditional life insurance products, the firm evaluates corporate succession strategies for business owners seeking seamless transitions. By integrating key-person insurance and buy-sell agreement funding into corporate structures, Lukic helps entrepreneurs protect company valuations and maintain operational continuity during sudden executive changes. These personalized business policies prevent ownership disputes and ensure that family members or surviving partners receive fair market value without destabilizing daily operations.

Additionally, the firm encourages families supporting people with disabilities to look into critical illness protection and Registered Disability Savings Plans (RDSPs). Critical illness coverage acts as a financial buffer during unexpected health events, offering living benefits that help policyholders manage treatment and recovery without tapping into long-term savings. Meanwhile, RDSPs remain a critical area where Lukic provides clear guidance, helping clients navigate federal grant structures to secure stable futures for relatives with special needs.

“Navigating federal benefit programs and specialized insurance options requires a thoughtful, step-by-step advisory method,” explains Lukic. “When families gain clarity on how these tools work together, they can make confident decisions that secure their financial position for generations.”

Aside from her executive role at AGFI, Lukic stays actively involved in regional and global charities. An avid equestrian and animal welfare advocate, she regularly supports causes including the Hamilton and Niagara SPCA, Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue Centre, Children Believe, and the Marici Project, a charity dedicated to anti-trafficking initiatives.

“Professional leadership pairs naturally with community involvement,” adds Lukic. “At AGFI, we ground our work in accountability, personal integrity, and active service to our community.”

Through AGFI, Lukic delivers practical advisory experience and specialized insurance structures to help clients protect their long-term outcomes.
