Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22 (UDN): More than 28.42 lakh rural households in Odisha have been identified as initially eligible for pucca houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), following the completion of the AwaasPlus-2024 survey, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik informed the Assembly on Tuesday.

In a written reply to Kendrapada MLA Ganeswar Behera, Naik said the survey covered 37,89,234 prospective households across the state.
Of these, 28,42,020 households were found initially eligible by the District Level Appellate Committee for consideration under PMAY-G.
Permanent Waiting List Next
The minister said the government will now proceed with preparation of the Permanent Waiting List (PWL) for the surveyed households.
Sanction of houses will be taken up after the waiting list is finalised and Odisha receives the housing target from the Union Ministry of Rural Development.
The identification of eligible households through the AwaasPlus survey is part of the process of preparing beneficiaries for housing assistance under the rural housing scheme.
No New Sanctions In 2025-26, 2026-27
Despite the large number of households identified as eligible, no houses were sanctioned under PMAY-G in Odisha during the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27, the minister informed the House.
The latest figures indicate that the state has completed the beneficiary identification stage for a substantial number of rural households, while actual sanctions will depend on finalisation of the waiting list and allocation of targets by the Centre.
