Chennai, May 28: Kauvery Hospital inaugurated its new Speciality OPD and Day Care Block at the historic AVM Studio premises in Vadapalani. The OPD and Day Care Block will offer speciality outpatient consultations across multiple disciplines and master health check-up services. It also features a dedicated dialysis centre for patients requiring long-term renal care, and a modern-day care centre for procedures and treatments that do not require prolonged hospital stay.

As part of the inauguration, the hospital introduced a specially curated Women’s Health Package comprising mammogram, ultrasound pelvis, pap smear, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) test, Complete Blood Count, fasting sugar, lipid profile, and a gynecology consultation. Women availing the package will also receive free consultation support for one year, encouraging continuity of care, preventive screening, and early health awareness.

The inauguration took place in the esteemed presence of Mr. M.S. Guhan, son of Shri. AVM. Saravanan and grandson of Shri. A.V. Meiyappan, alongside Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-founder and Executive Director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Guhan said:

“For decades, the AVM premises has been associated with stories and memories that connected with generations of people across Chennai and beyond. Today, seeing this iconic space evolve into one that contributes to health and healing gives that legacy a new meaning. AVM Health Centre, a brainchild of my grandfather Shri A V  Meiyappan, opposite to AVM Studios was designed to be a health centre for the people. However, as the metro rail station is coming here, it was acquired and that did not come to fruit. We are happy that Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani with its commitment to compassionate and accessible healthcare, is taking this journey forward in a way that will continue to serve the community meaningfully.”

Speaking about the expansion, Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj said:

“The AVM premises, long regarded as a cultural landmark deeply woven into Chennai’s identity, has now evolved into a space dedicated to care and healing. For decades, the destination was associated with storytelling and cinema that touched millions of lives. Today, it has begun a new journey of serving people through healthcare and well-being. When Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani was launched three years ago, our vision was to create a centre that combined clinical excellence with compassionate, patient-centred care for the people of Chennai. The trust that patients and families have placed in us over the years has been the driving force behind our growth. As we stepped into our fourth year at this location, the launch of this new Speciality OPD and Day Care Block became a meaningful extension of that commitment.”

With the growing need for organised outpatient care and preventive healthcare services, the newly opened facility aims to reduce the burden on patients and caregivers by making consultations, follow-ups, dialysis care, and health screenings more accessible and seamless. The facility will support patients requiring frequent hospital visits by creating a more comfortable, efficient, and patient-friendly environment.
