New Delhi, May 28: India’s engineering exports grew nearly 9% year-on-year to $10.4 billion in April, demonstrating resilience in the sector despite ongoing geopolitical disruptions in West Asia and other global supply chain challenges.
The increase was driven by strong demand across key markets for engineering goods, including machinery, automotive components, industrial equipment, and electrical machinery. Exporters also benefited from diversification into new markets and steady recovery in global manufacturing activity.
Industry stakeholders noted that despite logistical challenges and regional tensions affecting trade routes, Indian engineering exporters have maintained momentum through improved supply chain strategies and competitive pricing.
Officials said the performance reflects the sector’s growing global competitiveness and the success of ongoing efforts to expand India’s export footprint across diversified markets. Supportive policy measures and production-linked incentives have also contributed to strengthening manufacturing and export capabilities.
Experts believe sustained demand for engineering products, along with India’s expanding industrial base, will continue to support export growth in the coming months, even amid external uncertainties.
