Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences College & Hospital Organized Basic NRP Training on NRP Day

Greater Noida, May 14:  In a landmark nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening newborn survival and neonatal care, the Department of Pediatrics at Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences (NIIMS) Medical College & Hospital, Greater Noida successfully organized the Basic Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Training on the occasion of NRP Day.

The initiative was conducted under the nationwide campaign led by the National Neonatology Forum (NNF) India, which organized large-scale hands-on neonatal resuscitation skill training programs across the country. The campaign witnessed the participation of nearly 20,000 healthcare providers through 998 training courses conducted nationwide.

Newborn mortality continues to remain a significant public health concern in India, with a considerable number of neonatal deaths occurring due to failure to establish breathing immediately after birth. Timely neonatal resuscitation by trained healthcare professionals during the first few critical minutes can significantly reduce preventable newborn deaths.

At NIIMS Medical College & Hospital, the training program was organized under the guidance and leadership of Dr. S.N. Gupta, Director, Dr. Manisha Jindal, Dean, Dr. Ranjit Ghuliani, Medical Superintendent; and Dr. Amit Modi, Head of Department, Pediatrics.

Dr. Avinash Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics and Course Coordinator, informed that around 40 participants, including doctors, nurses, and interns from various departments, actively participated in the four-hour intensive hands-on training session.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ranjit Ghuliani, Medical Superintendent, NIIMS Hospital, said, “Training healthcare professionals in neonatal resuscitation is extremely important for ensuring safe deliveries and improving newborn survival rates. Such initiatives strengthen our commitment towards quality healthcare services and preparedness during critical neonatal emergencies.”

Dr. Amit Modi, Head, Department of Paediatrics, added, “The first few minutes after birth are crucial for every newborn. Through this structured NRP training, our healthcare providers are better equipped with evidence-based neonatal resuscitation skills that can help save precious lives and ensure healthier outcomes for newborns.”

The organizers highlighted that this synchronized nationwide effort by NNF India is expected to create a historic milestone by conducting the highest number of neonatal resuscitation skill trainings in a single day across India.

The training at NIIMS Medical College & Hospital will further contribute towards enhancing neonatal care services, ensuring safer deliveries, and promoting intact survival of newborns in the region.
