Gandhinagar, May 15: The Gujarat government will organise 225 summer yoga camps for children across the state starting May 16, aiming to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and healthy lifestyle habits among students during the summer vacation.

According to officials, the camps will be conducted in multiple districts and will focus on introducing children to basic yoga practices, breathing exercises, and mindfulness techniques in a structured and engaging environment.

The initiative is part of the state’s broader efforts to encourage preventive healthcare and wellness education at an early age, particularly during school holidays when children are more likely to participate in recreational learning activities.

Trained instructors and yoga practitioners will lead the sessions, ensuring age-appropriate guidance and safe practice for participants. The programme is expected to attract large participation from school-going children across urban and rural areas.

Officials said the camps are designed not only to improve physical flexibility and fitness but also to help children develop concentration, discipline, and stress management skills.

The government has also emphasized that such initiatives contribute to building long-term awareness about holistic health and the importance of yoga as part of daily life.

The camps will continue through the summer vacation period, offering children an opportunity to engage in structured wellness activities outside the regular academic schedule.
