Indian Embassy Confirms Safety of Two Nationals Aboard Cruise Ship Amid Hantavirus Concern

New Delhi, May 11: The Indian Embassy has confirmed that two Indian nationals aboard a cruise ship affected by a reported Hantavirus-related health concern are safe and in stable condition.

In a statement, the Embassy said it is in close coordination with local authorities and the ship’s management to ensure the wellbeing of all Indian passengers on board. It added that necessary assistance is being provided and the situation is being closely monitored.

Hantavirus is a rare but serious viral infection that can spread from rodents to humans and may lead to severe respiratory illness in some cases. Health and safety protocols have reportedly been strengthened on the vessel as a precautionary measure.

The Embassy further stated that it remains in contact with the families of the affected individuals and is ready to extend all required support.

Authorities are continuing to assess the situation, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
